This painting is from a scene in the boreal forest of Northwestern Ontario, Canada. Near the town of Minaki, Ontario. My family has deep routes to this area, and we've been visiting this area since the 1940's. Whenever I go out into the bush I am aware and acknowledge that I am not the first to visit, and I won't be the last.
The light colours in the background represent the memories that the rocks and trees hold. The dark rock in the foreground represents the never changing memory of place.
